OFFENSE
Coach Claflin is optimistic going into the season with the talent that he has on the roster. They are young, no seniors, but he believes that they can have a special season. In the spring, they worked hard on installing their new offense, which is more of a spread look, leaning more on the throwing game based on the promising athletes available. Will Muegge, (6-0, 165, So.) will be returning at quarterback after a successful freshman campaign where he completed 150/282 passes. He has several players returning to get the ball to that can make plays. One of those will be Logan Sunderland (6-4, 185, Jr.) who is a big, rangy wide receiver that can play multiple positions on offense. Last season he had 700 receiving yards with seven touchdowns. Dawson Scott (6-1, 160, Jr.) will be lined up primarily in the slot position, had 9 touchdown catches last season, reeling in 40 catches and accounting for 552 yards. Claflin noted that Scott is very fast and athletic. Another offensive threat is Lincoln Taylor (6-0, 175, So.) who had 22 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns last season. Billy Miller (6-2, 190, Jr.) will be anchoring the line to protect Muegge so he can get the ball out to his playmakers.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles will run at traditional 3-2 eight-man defense. Claflin’s philosophy; Own your gap and really become great at tackling. Lincoln Taylor will be force on defense as well at offense after a successful 2023 where he had 37 tackles and a pick six. Billy Miller will on the line, hoping to continue raising havoc in the backfield of his opponents. Last season he had 17 tackles which included two sacks and seven tackles for loss. A newcomer to keep an eye on is Tate Darling, a junior, who just started playing, has potential to be really good.
