Chisholm’s Jayden Dobbs – Teacher Spotlight – Presented by Rick’s Pharmacy

Jayden Dobbs, the District Athletic Director at Chisholm Public Schools, is entering his fourth year in a role that blends leadership, mentorship, and service. With a passion for helping students grow both on and off the field, Dobbs brings a thoughtful, values-driven approach to education—one rooted in family, character, and lasting impact.

Education runs deep in Dobbs’ DNA. The son of two recently retired educators, Jim and Dena Dobbs, Jayden was inspired early on by their dedication to their students and the strong character they modeled. “Growing up, I admired how they didn’t just teach—they mentored and served others,” he said. “That example inspired me to pursue a path where I could make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.”

Before coming to Chisholm, Dobbs taught at Waller Middle School in Enid, where he laid the foundation for his educational journey. Today, in his role as athletic director, he continues to shape students’ lives through a broader lens, guiding student-athletes and supporting coaches across the district.

Dobbs credits two of his former teachers with having a lasting impact: his high school history teacher, Ms. Rhonda Stange, and middle school coach and science teacher, Mr. Adam Peterson. “Ms. Stange held us to a high standard, and her classroom culture demanded our best,” he recalled. “Coach Peterson modeled integrity and consistency—he built deep relationships by leading with character and treating people with respect.”

For Dobbs, the most rewarding part of education is knowing that each interaction can help shape a student’s future. “Our students’ paths aren’t predetermined,” he said. “We have the power to influence their trajectory and equip them with tools they’ll carry into adulthood. That’s incredibly fulfilling.”

The best advice he’s received? “Do the hard things,” Dobbs shared. “If something feels difficult, it’s probably important. That’s where real growth happens.”

When he’s not leading Chisholm’s athletic programs, Dobbs enjoys life with his fiancée, Taylor Johnson, and their two dogs, Dwight and Spike. Whether working out, riding motorcycles, or spending time at the lake with family, he believes in making the most of every moment, just like he does in his career.
