Aaron Sheik is currently in his fourth year teaching upper level mathematics at Chisholm High School. Before that he taught two years in Kansas, one year in Texas, and 20 years in Oklahoma. He is a 1997 graduate of Cimarron High School in Lahoma, OK, where he played baseball. Growing up, some of his instructors were influential enough that he ended up choosing that career path as his own.
“I had many great teachers all through school while teaching me life skills as well as academics,” said Sheik.
As for why he chose to teach math, Sheik says, “Math is the most useful subject taught and I enjoy it the most.”
At Chisholm High, Sheik appreciates the community he has around him, both students and coworkers alike.
“I love how the majority of the students are willing to learn and how great my direct administrators and colleagues are in achieving a common goal,” he said.
The principles Sheik incorporates in his classroom revolve around truth and hard work.
“I try very hard to keep it real in everything I speak and to not sugar coat anything,” he said. “I hope my students learn academics obviously, to increase their work ethic, critical and analytical thinking, and abstract thinking.”
When it comes to his favorite aspect of the job, Sheik echoed the sentiments of many educators across the globe.
“I enjoy seeing young people succeed and become a great influence in society.”
