Chisholm High School’s Jase Hennigh
Chisholm High School senior Jase Hennigh has built his reputation on discipline, resilience and a deep appreciation for the team around him. Entering his final season, Hennigh, a middle safety, embraces both the physical and mental demands of the game while preparing for life beyond football.
Hennigh credits his father as his biggest source of inspiration. “My dad inspires me every day because no matter how many trials and tribulations he goes through, he always comes back from them,” he said. That mindset has shaped how Hennigh approaches challenges on and off the field.
A 12th-grade student, Hennigh enjoys math and cites Mr. Sheik as his favorite teacher. When he is not in class or at practice, he spends his time lifting with friends or playing video games, finding balance between competition and relaxation.
On the field, Hennigh plays a demanding role at middle safety, where awareness and anticipation are key. “The most difficult thing about my position is trying to be invisible,” he said, emphasizing the importance of reading plays and staying one step ahead. His preparation reflects that focus. Before games, Hennigh sits in silence, mentally rehearsing “making big-time plays.”
One of his most memorable moments came during his sophomore season. “I dove all out for it and intercepted it for my first high school interception,” he said, recalling a game against Mount St. Mary’s that left a lasting impression.
Hennigh also remembers the intensity of the sport, including a moment from his freshman year when a sharp move by a receiver resulted in a defender breaking his collarbone. Experiences like that reinforce the unpredictable nature of football.
Beyond the highlights, Hennigh values the relationships built through the sport. “I enjoy the feeling of having another family the most,” he said. “I love the bond that I have built with the team because I feel safe knowing a lot of people have my back.”
Teammate Brandon Todd has made a significant impact on him. “No matter what he still works as hard as he can,” Hennigh said, pointing to Todd’s perseverance through injuries as a model of dedication.
Off the field, Hennigh works on the grounds crew at Oakwood Country Club and participates in community service through student council and National Honor Society. He also enjoys spending time at one of his favorite hometown spots, Braum’s.
Through athletics, Hennigh has learned a simple but lasting lesson: “The ones who put in the hard work will eventually see good results.”
