The Chisholm High School baseball team enters the new season with excitement and optimism. Head Coach Riley Thompson believes his squad has the right mix of youth, energy, and talent to make some noise this spring. With a lineup full of players ready to step into leadership roles, the Longhorns are eager to build on their foundation and chase postseason success.
“This is a young team with a lot of potential for success this year,” said Coach Thompson.
Leading the team both on and off the field is senior catcher Tyson Arnold, the veteran behind the plate. After a promising season was cut short by injury last year, Arnold’s return brings stability and confidence to the defense. His experience and leadership will also power the heart of the lineup, where his bat is expected to deliver big runs for Chisholm.
Sophomore Brayson Barnes is one of the most intriguing players to watch. After serving in a supporting role last year as a freshman, Barnes has earned his chance as a consistent starter. He’ll see plenty of action as one of the team’s key arms on the mound, proving his work ethic and drive to elevate his game have paid off.
Junior Joah Jeffries strengthens the pitching rotation as a reliable arm expected to play a major role this season. His composure on the hill will be critical in big games. In the field, Tayden Hamilton anchors first base and brings a powerful bat to the middle of the order, while Slade Smith provides spark and speed at the top. Smith’s ability to cover ground in the outfield and energize the offense makes him a game-changer for the Longhorns.
Freshman Lane Lansdown, involved in FFA activities like cattle grading and auctioneering, adds another layer of character to this promising roster. Meanwhile, Gabe Sebranek, known for his leadership and integrity, exemplifies what it means to be a true teammate, setting the tone for hard work and sportsmanship.
With a mix of returning talent and emerging young stars, Chisholm looks poised to surprise opponents and deliver a memorable season.
