2025 Pond-Creek Hunter Panthers Football Preview – Presented by Shelter Insurance

POND CREEK-HUNTER PANTHERS

Coach: TANNER BROWN

7-4

OFFENSE

The Panthers enter the 2025 season looking to reload after graduating a talented senior class. Fortunately, a strong core of underclassmen who gained valuable experience last season is ready to step up. While there may be some growing pains early on, the team’s work ethic and positive attitude have coaches optimistic about steady improvement as the season progresses.

Leading the charge offensively will be wide receiver Kyson Davis (5’11, 180, So.), who hauled in 22 receptions for 223 yards and three touchdowns last year. A natural leader with high football IQ, Davis is already considered a coach on the field despite his youth. He will be a key piece in the Panthers’ offensive attack. Tight end Noah Crouch (6’0, 190, Jr.) adds another valuable receiving option, coming off a season where he posted 139 yards and two touchdowns on nine catches. Up front, center Landon Peterson (5’7, 240, Sr.) anchors the offensive line alongside guard Ethan Stephens (5’11, 230, So.), giving the Panthers some size and strength in the trenches. In the backfield, freshman running back Laker Easley (5’10, 170) will look to make an immediate impact, while athlete Blayne Tefft (6’0, 190, Sr.) adds versatility to the offense.

Looking to the future, Tegan Cowherd is a name to watch. The freshman quarterback and linebacker showed great promise in junior high and bring reliability and a strong work ethic to the varsity level.

DEFENSE

Defensively, the Panthers return some key contributors who bring toughness and experience to the field. On the defensive line, Carlos Robinson (5’8, 260, Jr.) and Kooper Kelso (5’7, 160, Sr.) form a disruptive duo up front. Kelso, in particular, had an impressive 2024 season with 49 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. Robinson, who only began playing football in the eighth grade after being homeschooled, has developed quickly and brings raw strength to the line.

Brady Schuermann (5’10, 180, So.) will hold down the edge as a defensive end after tallying 35 tackles and 4 tackles for loss a year ago. At the same time, Crouch contributes on both sides of the ball, adding 32 tackles and 8 tackles for loss defensively. In the secondary, Davis continues his leadership role, while also producing between the lines with 29 tackles and three interceptions. His combination of athleticism and intelligence makes him a cornerstone of the defense. Tefft will also play a vital role as a two-way athlete, setting the tone with his consistency and character.
