OKEENE WHIPPETS
Coach: TANNER ALLEN
10-2
OFFENSE
The Whippets are coming off an impressive 10-2 season that saw them advance to the quarterfinals of the Class B playoffs. Last year’s offense was a powerhouse, racking up a combined 610 points while holding opponents to 278. Returning to lead the charge is senior quarterback William Woolley (6-0, 170), who threw for 2,243 yards last season. A talented athlete with a sharp eye for finding open receivers, Woolley will once again have one of his top targets in senior wide receiver Ben Cheap (6-1, 170), who put up 1,045 receiving yards last year and looks ready to deliver another big season. Junior Blayne Jinkens (6-1, 175) brings versatility, able to contribute as both a running back and wide receiver depending on the team’s needs. In the backfield, senior Ace Long (5-9, 180) provides a dangerous rushing threat, using his agility to break into open space and keep defenses on their heels.
DEFENSE
Okeene’s defense was a force last season, holding opponents to an average of just 23 points per game, including three shutouts. With seven starters returning from that strong defensive unit, the Whippets are poised to maintain their dominance on that side of the ball. One player to watch is senior linebacker Harley Karbs (5-10, 182), a tough, physical presence who isn’t afraid to deliver a big hit. Karbs racked up an impressive 123 tackles last season and is set to be a key impact player once again.
