As a freshman at Deer Creek-Lamont High School, Chase Andrews is already making a strong impression across multiple arenas. Competing in track, cross-country, and e-sports, Chase showcases a blend of physical endurance, mental focus, and competitive spirit well beyond his years.
Chase’s biggest source of motivation comes from someone close to home—his mother. “My mom motivates me through anything throughout the year,” he said. Alongside her, his coaches also serve as strong role models. “They’ve always pushed me to do amazing things throughout the year,” he added.
Success hasn’t come easy, but Chase credits his progress to consistent effort and coachability. “All it took was hard work and doing what my coaches tell me to do,” he explained. That effort paid off in a big way at this year’s regional track meet when he shaved five seconds off his 800-meter run, a personal highlight in his young athletic career.
Chase also thrives on competition, particularly when racing against Jude Vassar from Timberlake in the 110 hurdles. “It’s always fun racing him,” he said. In practice, he enjoys working alongside teammate Brice Bledsoe. “I’m usually just trying to keep up with him, but it always helps push me to do better.”
He also takes time to recognize those around him, pointing out Piper Hill as an underappreciated teammate for her commitment. “She was the only girl who stayed until the end of the season,” he said.
Outside of athletics, Chase is involved in Quiz Bowl and the Agriculture program, rounding out a well-balanced school experience. Managing academics and athletics comes naturally to him. “I usually finish my classwork during school, and then practice at the end of the day. If I have homework, I just do it at home,” he said.
For Chase, representing his school and community goes beyond competition. “I represent my coaches’ teachings and my hard work. I mainly represent myself in everything I do and appreciate everyone who supports me.”
With strong values, determination, and a growing list of achievements, Chase Andrews is a rising star at Deer Creek-Lamont.
