2025 Chisholm Longhorns Softball Preview – Presented by Elevate Sports Field Management

With a solid foundation and a wealth of returning talent, the Chisholm High School softball team enters the 2025 season with confidence and high expectations. Led by head coach Kevin Burns, who is now in his 23rd season at the helm, the Lady Longhorns are looking to turn last year’s growing pains into this year’s success.

“We were young in 2024, but we gained valuable experience,” said Coach Burns. “This group has worked hard in the offseason and we’re excited about what’s ahead.”

The team returns key senior leaders in Addy Dunkin, Emma John, and Ady Collins. Dunkin, an outfielder with great speed and a strong bat, is a standout both on and off the field. “She has next-level talent and is as coachable as they come,” said Burns. Collins will share pitching duties with promising freshman Braylee Jones, while Emma John brings veteran presence to the infield. John, who has overcome hearing challenges since infancy, is an inspiring figure both in the classroom and on the diamond.

The junior class will be vital to Chisholm’s success, led by Lois Alcorn and Jade Davis. Alcorn, a two-year starter, was the team’s Offensive Player of the Year last season and continues to refine her game with year-round play. Davis brings versatility and athleticism to the field, playing nearly every position except pitcher, and consistently ranks among the team’s statistical leaders.

Other juniors expected to make an impact include Kinley Dodson, Kinsley Randolph, and the steady and hardworking Makenna Ridgway. Sophomore additions Emma Dillon and transfer Emalea Hicks will add depth across the lineup.

The incoming freshman class is loaded with talent, including Kennedy Martin, who brings a high softball IQ and the ability to anchor the infield. Alongside Martin, newcomers Jaye Bauman, Tinley Goodman, Bailey Nichols, and Anika Selman are poised to contribute early.

With leadership, experience, and a mix of fresh talent, the Lady Longhorns have the pieces in place for a strong season. As Coach Burns put it, “This is a group that knows how to work and wants to get better. That’s a good recipe for success.”
