CHISHOLM LONGHORNS

Coach: COLE HIBLER

2024-25 Record: 13-16

The Chisholm Longhorns are ready to hit the court this season and build upon the skills and knowledge they have been sharpening.

“We bring back a bunch of core pieces this season graduating only one from last year,” said head coach Cole Hibler. “We have been working hard this off-season to be prepared for the upcoming season and feel good about what we have. We have a lot of experience that returns both younger guys and older guys. Being beat in the regional consolation finals last year left a bad taste in our mouth, but we gained some valuable experience from that as well.”

Leading the charge will be tow-time VYPE Top 100 nominee Cooper Westfahl. He is going into his senior year just 67 points shy of the 1,000 points club – even more impressive when you consider that he only scored two points as a freshman. Last year he averaged 21.3 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game.

“He has really worked to step his game up in all areas,” said coach Hibler. “I believe he has a great chance to have a very impressive year.”

The Longhorns have a handful of reliable shooters including seniors Gage Smith (9.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 ast) and Noah Jackson (8.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.8 ast), juniors Tayden Hamilton (6.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg and Manu Smolinski (3.8 ppg, 2.9 rpg), and sophomore Jonas Jackson (2.1 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.1 ast).

Hamilton is a player who exemplifies Chisholm standards.

“He always carries himself with great pride and does things the right way,” said coach Hibler. “Tayden is a junior who is looking to have a great year for us and step into a more advanced leadership role.”

Jackson, an underclassman to watch, will also have opportunities to influence the game.

“Jonas gained valuable experience playing around 10-12 minutes a game last year as a freshman,” said coach Hibler. “He will be a defensive force for us this season. He will also have the opportunity to step up in other areas of the game.”

Other players contributing to success will be seniors Payson Bynum, Andrew Bartley, and Julian Jenkins; juniors Keegan Brown and Joah Jeffries; and sophomores Teshon Medlock, Kade Deterding, Ace Stafford, and Rowan Jackson.
