Waynoka’s Stetson Nix – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

A junior at Waynoka High School, Stetson Nix is involved in FFA, and he is a member of the varsity football team. Balancing both can be a challenge, but Nix is focused on making the most of both opportunities.

“I started playing football in fifth grade,” Nix said. “I joined FFA my eighth grade year.”

As a member of the football team, Nix said it’s his teammates that make all the hard work worth it. As a group, the Railroaders are a tight bunch.

“My teammates are great people to be around. They are fun to be around. They are supportive and hype each other up when needed,” said Nix.

For inspiration, Nix looks no further than someone important in his daily life.

“My Dad is a big inspiration in my life. He pushes me to be better in all things I am committed to. My Mom is also a big inspiration. She always puts up with my stubbornness and always my biggest cheerleader. My sister, Baylee, was always my biggest competition growing up. She has always pushed me to be better,” said Nix.

Currently, Nix is showing sheep in FFA and is serving as the Secretary for the chapter. He’s also actively involved in CDEs and LDEs. Both football and FFA have taught him valuable lessons he hopes to take with him to NOC and OSU where he plans to pursue a degree in Agricultural Business.

“Both football and FFA take discipline. The harder you work, the luckier in life you will become. Being able to think quickly on my feet and make quick decisions will help me be more successful in my future,” said Nix.

Away from school, Nix said he enjoys hunting, fishing, working with his sheep, hanging out with family, especially his nephew, Levi.
