Waynoka’s Landon Sieger – Football Spotlight – Presented by COREBANK of Waynoka

High school athletes put in a lot of time and effort in preparation for competition. When they step out on the field or court to play, they are playing for more than just themselves and their teammates, and that is something that Landon Seiger is glad to be able to do.

“The outstanding support from the community makes me proud to represent the Waynoka Railroaders whenever I play,” he said.

Seiger is a senior at Waynoka High School, where he is a multi-sport athlete. He plays running back and linebacker on the football field, while on the baseball diamond, he is at pitcher or catcher. He is also a member of the track team. He is also involved in a number of groups outside of athletics, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, and the First Baptist Church.

Landon says that in order to be a successful athlete and compete at your highest level, you have to do more than just put in the work.

“You have to stay focused and be a leader,” he said. “It also helps to keep yourself motivated, which my biggest motivation is the feeling of success.”

Throughout his life, there have been many people that have made an impact on his life, but Seiger says that there is one person that by far has had the biggest impact.

“The biggest role model I could ever have in my life is Jesus Christ,” he stated. “Because he died for our mistakes. Someone else that has been an influence on me has been Tanner Allen because he always believes in me and never let me get to my head.”

Waynoka’s head football coach, Payson Slater, says that Landon is a beast on the field and is a big part of the team.

“Landon has been a problem for opponents in our district for the last few years,” Slater said. “He is a very smart player on both sides of the ball and he was named District Most Valuable Player in 2023.”

Seiger has made a lot of memories during his time playing sports, but he says that there is one moment that stands out as his favorite.
“I’ve had many exciting experiences but my favorite would be making in to the state championship in football my sophomore year,” he said.
