Leedey’s Tres Cassis – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit Western Oklahoma

Leedey’s Tres Cassis

For Tres Cassis, the Ag world isn’t just a hobby it’s a lifestyle he’s grown up in and plans to carry into the future.

“This is my third year in FFA,” Tres said. “I have always been surrounded by livestock and the work that goes along with it, but I wanted to join FFA because I’m passionate about the agricultural world and I want to help teach others all of the important things that go along with it.”

In FFA, Tres has learned lessons that surpass the classroom.                                                                             “FFA has helped me gain skills in leadership, better communication, and how to manage real-world projects,” he said. “It’s also shown me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and taking on new challenges.”

One of his favorite memories comes from the Oklahoma State FFA Convention.                                    “It’s always guaranteed fun, and you get to make new friends while seeing who the new officer team will be for the next year,” Tres said.

When it comes to projects, Tres is most proud of the work he’s put into showing his goats.                                “I enjoy the bond I build with each one and the relationships livestock showing has brought me,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to see all the hours of feeding, training, and grooming pay off in the show ring.”

That commitment recently paid off in a huge way when he earned Reserve Intermediate Showmanship at the OYE Doe Show. A time Tres says he’ll never forget. For Tres, Leedey FFA stands out because of its people.

“The way everyone works hard is one way to show how the Leedey FFA chapter is special,” he said. “Each of us take pride in what we do and make sure we try our best in every contest and project.”

Looking forward, Tres hopes to continue blending his love of animals and science.                                             “It’s hard to say what my final plan is, but I think what I’m most interested in is being a vet,” he said. “I’d love to have a future in agriculture.”
