Fairview’s Conner Temple – Presented by Northwest Tech Center

Fairview High School junior Conner Temple plays basketball, runs cross country and track, and is involved with the school’s band and FCA.

“Being a student-athlete is important to me because it makes me feel like part of the YellowJackets family,” Temple said. “Prioritizing academics are important because if you don’t keep your grades maintained, you won’t be able to participate.”

Conner considers faith and family integral components to his lifestyle.

“I love worshiping God,” Temple said. “I want to thank my parents, because they support me no matter what I do and have always lifted me up, and my friends too, who are always there for me when I need to tell them something or need a ride for something, things like that. And last, but not least, I thank God for giving me strength to do what I want to do and for being there for everything.”

Temple’s athletic career has been rewarding — but also challenging.

“One significant challenge is that my freshman year, I had an injury in track, which put me out for the rest of the season,” Temple said. “I learned that no matter what happens, always persevere.”

He also remembered what he loves about sports. It’s not just about the glory that comes with success.

“Getting to do sports that I love and meeting and making friends from other schools,” Temple said. “I hope they [classmates, teammates] remember me for what I did. Like the fun stuff I did and great times I had with them.”

Temple’s goals include making state in track, improving in cross country and basketball and succeeding in band in academics. After high school, Temple plans to attend college.

“I hope to go to college at OU or OSU after high school and get a degree in aerospace engineering,” Temple said, “or become a pilot for major airlines.”
