There are times in life when we do something because those around us are doing it. After a while, we figure out we enjoy doing it and it becomes our thing. This is similar to what happened with Clayton Arrington when he decided to enroll at Northwest Technology Center in Fairview.
“I am in the Auto Technology program at Northwest Tech and I am learning from Bobby Watson,” he said. “At first I was interested because of my friends, but I started getting into cars more and have developed somewhat of a passion for it.”
Arrington has had a great experience in the program and says that he would recommend it to anyone that has an interest in that kind of stuff.
“It’s been working great,” he said. “As a beginner, I didn’t know much. But my instructor and the counselor have helped me learn and excel. I think it’s great for people who actually want to do something in life. You need to take it seriously and not goof off. It’ll help you get what you need to start your life off.”
As a senior at Canton High School, Clayton is a member of the football, powerlifting, basketball, golf, track, and e-sports teams. Being a part of so many teams, it makes sense that Arrington would be a big fan of competition.
“I mostly enjoy the thrill and excitement when it comes to having good competition,” he stated. “When we go up against good teams it makes me want to play more and try to showcase my abilities.”
Throughout his athletic career, there have been many memorable moments for Clayton. But he has one that is at the top of his list.
“My favorite moment in my sports life so far has to be in my junior year when I went to Dibble for a powerlifting meet and I squatted 405lbs for the first time,” he recalled.
As his senior year begins to near the end, Arrington is ready for the next chapter.
“After I graduate, I plan to work on cars and make a good living off of it,” he said. “That way I can live how I want to in life.”
