Cherokee’s Kinsy Roberts – Presented by Slater Mechanical

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization allows christian students to meet together to discuss their faith and to grow relationships. Kinsy Roberts is involved in the FCA at Cherokee High School and she says it was a simple invite that introduced her to the group.

“I first joined FCA when I was in the eighth grade when some upperclassmen told me that there was food and sermon during lunch,” she said. “I saw all of the benefits that came with FCA such as: a Christ centered community, leaders who were invested in the students and fun trips that help me experience the life that God has for me.”

Roberts, a senior, is thankful for FCA and the opportunities it has given her.

“The group has helped me in my confidence by supporting me and lifting me up when I speak or lead an event,” she said. “I have been able to develop significant leadership skills. I have been exposed to many different personalities that I have come to love and deeply care for as my brothers and sisters in Christ. My favorite memory has been speaking at Fields of Faith. There, we were able to worship on the football field and I had the opportunity to share my testimony with my community and other surrounding communities. Then everyone there circled up and we had a time of prayer.”

Kinsy is thankful for the FCA program but knows that if it was not for one person, it would not have happened.

“Without God, nothing that I have done for FCA would have happened or mattered,” she said. “He has given me the strength and confidence to do what I thought was impossible, like speaking in front of a crowd. Through knowing who He is, I have responded maturely to tough situations, I am mindful of my actions and what the impact will be, and I have learned to treat others with the love that Christ has shown me. Without Jesus I would be a completely different person, and for that I want to spend my life serving Him and bringing honor and glory to His name.”
