Cheer and Cross Country Players to Watch – Presented by NOC

CHEER

Abigail Overstreet – Waukomis

Abigail is a senior captain who has been a Waukomis cheerleader since fifth grade. She is the student council president, class president, and involved in every sport at Waukomis. She is a great leader to the squad and community.

CROSS COUNTRY

Callen Frantz – Balko-Forgan

Callen is an incoming freshman. He had great cross-country and track seasons last year and has a chance to be really good. He is nothing but work and will be a strong leader this year.

Rebecca Pearson – Balko-Forgan

She was a top ten finisher last year and is looking forward to another great season.

Bentlee Bernard – Fairview

Bernard has been Fairview’s top-scoring female runner throughout her high school career, consistently finishing in the top ten at meets. A multi-sport athlete who also shines in track and basketball, Bentlee’s athleticism, determination, and strong summer training make her a true leader and an essential part of her team’s success.

Emma Copeland – Hennessey

Emma led the team to fifth place at the state meet last year and also earned allstar status by placing in the top 15 at the state meet.

Yarel Mesta – Hooker

As one of the team’s only seniors, Yarel has stepped into the role of team leader. A savvy competitor, she holds the school record in just about every distance event in Track. She has been a part of four state championship teams, three in cross country and one in track, and is an All-stater in both of those sports as well.

Callen Duncan – Hooker

Callen competed alongside and rubbed shoulders with last year’s seniors. He knows what a good day’s work looks like and what it will take to be where he wants to be in the end. The other guys look to him to set the pace and tone in workouts.

Remle Ross – Mooreland

Remle has really come into her own during her junior high years and will hit the ground running this fall. She is a freshman to watch and a super hard-nosed competitor.

Reece Hensley – Mooreland

Defending State Champion for Class A last fall and a heavily decorated middle long-distance track runner, Reece looks to defend his crown.

Jakobi Moulder – Waukomis

Jakobi is a sophomore returning after a great freshman season, where he made it to State as an individual. He is a natural born runner and ready to make moves to be another state contender this season.
