When Kaylen Woods was in the eighth grade, she knew joining the FFA chapter was the first thing she wanted to do. Playing softball was another activity Woods was excited to add to her high school experience.
“I always knew I would get involved with FFA because I have always had friends and family members who were in FFA or were engaged in agriculture. Also, I always looked up to the FFA members when I was in 4-H,” said Woods.
Now a sophomore, Woods is involved in several activities within the program including showing market goats.
“Some of the activities I am involved in are the veterinary science team and public speaking. This year I plan to compete in various veterinary science competitions, and I will give an AFR speech this fall as well as a speech in the spring. Also, I am the chapter historian,” said Woods.
Woods is a member of the Student Council, and Key Club while playing softball, basketball, and golf in the spring. This season the softball team has enjoyed some big wins this season including an extra innings win over Pond Creek-Hunter.
“What I love most about my teammates is that we are all very hardworking. Every day we all give 110 percent,” said Woods.
On the field, Woods plays shortstop and centerfield, depending on what the team needs. Her future plans include more FFA, playing softball in college, and becoming a Veterinarian.
