Success is something that everyone hopes to achieve, no matter what they are doing. They put in the time and effort to be their best and they hope that it will play off. Kash Shipley is an athlete at Alva High School and he knows what it takes.
“A lot of hard work and practice,” he said. “I get motivated by trying to do the best for my team.”
Kash is in his senior year and is a multi-sport athlete for the Goldbugs. He plays wide receiver, safety, kicker, and punter for the football team, and on the basketball court, he is a shooting guard. He is also a member of the school’s golf team. Outside of athletics, he is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Throughout his life, there have been a lot of people that have been there for him and helped him along the way. But out of all of them, there are a couple that have been really impactful.
“The biggest influence in my life has been my uncle Cooper,” he said. “He works with me and is always pushing me to be better. A teacher that has impacted me is Dr. Halah Simon. She is always there for me when I need her.”
Shipley’s teammates have also played a big role in him becoming the athlete that he is today. He says that it is a great group of guys that he enjoys competing alongside.
“The teammate that I enjoy working with the most in practice is Kelan Pinco,” he said. “We push each other to be better. I think one of the underappreciated players on the team is Lantz Mathers. He is definitely the best defender on our team.”
After playing sports for some time, Kash has made a lot of memories, but he has a few that stand out as his favorite.
“The biggest highlight of my sports career was being voted All-Conference MVP in basketball,” he said. “It was a great honor. When it comes to our opponents, I like beating Chisholm the most. It’s a big rivalry every time we play them.”
