Demy Stewart is a sophomore at Alva High School. She also attends the Alva Campus of the Northwest Technology Center. She says that she was familiar with Northwest Tech because of her family and she thinks that it will help as she prepares for her future.
“All of my older siblings went to the tech center, they all had great experiences,” she said. “This is one of the reasons I chose to go there. I think the tech center is preparing me for my future career by teaching me more about computers which seem to be in all reaches of our lives.”
Stewart is in the Digital Design Program at Northwest Tech. And while she has not settled on what to do after high school, she feels that this program can help her grow in her knowledge of technology.
“I am taking the Digital Design Program to expand my knowledge with designing and printing items such as posters and buttons while expanding my knowledge of computers,” she said.
As a current student at Northwest Tech, Demy has some advice for anyone that is thinking about attending but not sure.
“I’d say to someone who is considering a technical school, that it will help increase your education and give you good experiences with many hands-on techniques,” she said.
At Alva, Stewart is a member of the cheer and golf teams. She is also a part of the Technology Student Association and the First Baptist Church youth group.
When it comes to people that have had an impact on her life, Demy has a few that come to mind. But she has one that has shown her how to be a solid member of a team.
“I’d say that my older brother, Bo Stewart, is one of my biggest role models,” she said. “I’ve watched him play baseball for what seems like my entire life and he’s always tries to be supportive of his teammates, and he always shows up for his team and his family.”
