Alva’s Channing Ferguson – Student Spotlight – Presented by Northwest Technology Center

e is in the Digital Design program. She says that she chose this program because of others that had taken the class.

“I chose this program because many people around me, including my older brother and some of my closest friends, had taken the class,” she said. “They talked about how fun it was and how much they enjoyed taking the class and doing the projects.”

Channing first heard about the programs offered by Northwest Tech during an eighth grade tour of the school.

“I really enjoyed the tour,” she said. “They showed us around the technology center and gave us a brief look at each program that could be available to us.”

As she starts to think about her future, Ferguson says that the programs at Northwest Tech do a great job of getting students ready for life after high school.
“The tech center programs are very thought through and are designed to help students with what they need to prepare for the future,” she said. “I hope to attend the Bio-Med program next year and hope this will help me in my future career. I plan to attend a four-year college. I hope someday to be an Occupational Therapist.”

At Alva, Channing is a multi-sport athlete, competing in cross country, basketball, track, and golf. During her time playing sports, Ferguson has made a lot of memories, but she has one that stands out as her favorite.

“My most memorable moment has been from my freshman year when we beat Luther in the Area Consolation Championship and qualified to go to the State Basketball Tournament,” she said. “The whole team was so excited and it was great, but our families and our community was very excited and proud of us as well. We knew we had a special team, but that made it even more special.”
