Alva Goldbugs Basketball – Presented by Northwest Technology Center

The Goldbugs enter this season looking to build off of last season that saw them advance to the Area round of the playoffs. Head coach J.B. Kimberlin likes the make up of his team this season and is looking forward to seeing what they will be able to accomplish. “We will be replacing three  starters from a 19-9 season a year ago,” Kimberlin said. “Last year’s leading scorer Kash Shipley, who averaged 19.6 points per game, returns along with Kelan Penco.

We have a lot of young guys looking to step up and fill the remaining spots.” Shipley (6-5, Sr.) has the ability to both shoot the three and put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. He has great court vision and gets his teammates involved with his ability to make great passes. Another player that will have an impact on the season is Connor Adair (6-1, So.). He was thrust into the starting lineup last season due to a few injuries the team was facing. Connor had some bright spots as a freshman and he has worked extremely hard in the offseason. He has the potential to be a big part of the team on both ends of the floor this season.

Maddux Beck (6-6, So.) is a big strong post player. While he did not see any significant playing time a year ago, he had a great summer and is projected to have an impact for the team this season. Tucker Hannaford (5-11, So.) is a hard worker who has improved significantly since the end of his freshman year. Always shows up and has a great attitude. A multisport athlete for Alva,

Cambell Gaisford (5-10, Sr.) is a great kid and teammate and is always there to do whatever he can to help his team be successful. Other members of the team looking to make contributions this season are Kelan Penco (6-5, Sr.), Trace Hamilton (6-4, Jr.), Lantz Mathers (5-9, Sr.), Kyler Martin (5-11, Jr.), Wyatt Tucker (6-6, Sr.), Jantz Heaton (5-10, Sr.), Keaton Adair (6-1, So.), Coleman Gaisford (5-10, So.), Tripp Cole (5-6, So.), Keiden Kimberly (5-10, So.), Gavin Loewenstein (5-8, Jr.), Dash Fuller (5-9, Fr.), Stetson Martin (5-6, Fr.), and Owen Vermillion (6-0, Fr.)
