Kaydence Kilian doesn’t just play sports; she lives them. A junior at Medford High School, Kilian stays busy year-round competing in basketball, softball, track, and cheer. Whether she’s holding down the post on the court or stepping onto the field at first base, her presence is defined by effort, discipline, and heart.
Her motivation runs deeper than wins and stats. For Kilian, it’s about something lasting.
“Leaving a legacy, making my friends and family proud, and being a role model for the kids at my school.”
That mindset shows up in everything she does, from long practices to extra time spent studying opponents. She understands that success doesn’t come easy, it’s earned through preparation and persistence.
“It takes long, hard practices and watching film on opponents, putting in extra time… hard work beats talent when talent isn’t working.”
Kilian credits much of her character to her grandparents, who each bring qualities she hopes to carry forward in her own life. From kindness to creativity to hard work and intelligence, their influence shapes who she is both on and off the field.
At school, one teacher has made a lasting impact.
“Mrs. Locke has the biggest impact on my life for being a shoulder I can learn on… She believed in me before I believed in myself.”
That belief has helped fuel one of the biggest moments of Kilian’s athletic career, reaching “the big house,” a milestone that reflects both team success and personal growth.
Still, she knows she didn’t get there alone. Competing in practice with her sisters pushes her daily, while teammates like freshman Brennan Locke remind her what courage looks like.
“It takes guts to be a freshman and go against seniors… every time she has flown.”
Representing Medford means everything to Kilian. Backed by a supportive community, she takes pride in giving her best effort every time she steps onto the court or field.
“To have people in my town tell me they are proud of me is the best feeling in the world.”
