VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?
Addison: I am a sophomore at Enid High School. I play basketball and soccer.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Addison: I am involved in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Principals Advisory Committee, Oakwood Student Ministry Student Leadership, and I am on two travel basketball teams.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Addison: I want to thank my parents for caring and supporting me through every practice and every game. Thank you for all of the miles driven to watch me and be there for me.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Addison: Sports have taught me self-discipline and determination. I may not always want to go to practice or training, but I go because I made a commitment to my team and myself.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Addison: My AAU ball coach, Jashawn Talton-Thomas, inspires me the most. While I’ve never seen him play, the way he coaches is amazing. He truly cares about his players and is very passionate about the game. He builds me up when I’m down and helps me in the areas where I fall short. He’s only been my coach for one summer, but he’s definitely made the greatest impact. Without the confidence he gave me over the summer, I may not have been given the opportunity on varsity this year.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Addison: My freshman year, we only had one senior, Sage Haffner. She started the year sitting bench, and when my coach saw her shooting, she began to get more playing time. She persevered through the hard times. She always wanted to help me grow, and she now plays at Friends. Through her sister Kaylor Haffner, who’s a freshman, Sage still pushes me to the next level, especially with my shooting.
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Addison: I am proud of my faith, in and out of sports. I have my weak moments. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t spend enough time in my Bible, but I strive to glorify God in my actions. He has given me the athletic abilities and strength to play the game; all that is asked is to do it for the Lord.
VYPE: What is your favorite dessert?
Addison: My favorite dessert is basic vanilla ice cream.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Addison: My favorite meal of all time is chicken Alfredo.
