Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Alan Ford – Teacher Spotlight – Presented Oklahoma Bible Academy

For the past 15 years, Oklahoma Bible Academy has been home to American History, Modern History, and AP U.S. History teacher Alan Ford, whose passion for both history and student growth has shaped countless young lives. Teaching primarily juniors and seniors, Ford brings energy, clarity, and purpose to the classroom each day, drawing from a deep love for the stories that make up America’s past.

Ford’s journey into education began with two key influences: a lifelong fascination with American history and the impact athletics had on his own personal development. Sports, he says, played a defining role in maturing him both as a person and as a Christian. The lessons of discipline, teamwork, and humility became foundational, and teaching offered the perfect way to merge his academic interests with his desire to mentor young people. Before joining OBA, he spent two years teaching at Shawnee Middle School, gaining early experience that helped shape his teaching philosophy.

Ford credits a whole community of teachers and coaches from his own school years for guiding him toward the educator he is today. They pushed him to excel in the classroom and in athletics, but, more importantly, invested deeply in his character and faith. He now strives to pass on that same kind of meaningful impact to his students.

One of the greatest joys of teaching at OBA, Ford shares, is the ability to minister to the whole student. He values the unique opportunity to integrate education, athletics, and faith without separation, pointing students toward Christ while also challenging them academically. A piece of advice that has stayed with him is the importance of building relationships first. Content matters, he says, but students must know they are cared for as individuals.

Outside the classroom, Ford enjoys a full life with his wife, Kaci, and their daughter, Rylee. The Ford family loves playing board games, watching Thunder games, and staying active through biking and lifting weights. He also remains deeply involved at Emmanuel Baptist Church, continuing his passion for serving others in both education and faith-filled community.
