Rogue Elexis Pethick is a sixteen-year-old sophomore at Waukomis High. She is a busy young lady with a full school schedule and a job after school. Rogue is successful in everything she does!
She is involved with both cross country and track. She told me, “I love to run!” She was in a four-wheeler accident and hurt her ankle just before cross-country season. She will have surgery later this year, physical therapy, and, hopefully, back for track season. She runs the 400 and 800 for the Lady Chiefs. Rogue had her best time at Regional last year, posting a 2:52 in the 800-meter, breaking three minutes for her first time. Superintendent of Waukomis schools and track coach, Kelly Husted, called Rogue “one of one!” Adding, “she is very driven and one of those girls you love to have. She gives you her best every time out.”
Rogue is very involved with FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America). She is the chapter President and the District Vice President of Membership. She is in competitive Star Events using a job interview format. She was first in Regional, second in District, and third at State as a sophomore. Rogue has spoken at two FCCLA Leadership Conferences.
She has been involved with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) for three years. The school is just getting FCA going again after a previous sponsor passed away. Rogue is the Vice President of a growing group of about 20-25 strong. The Huddle meets at lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Bible study or a guest speaker.
There’s more! Rogue loves the band and playing her flute. It is one of her “fun” things! She is Secretary of the Superintendent Advisory Committee and is learning more about leadership. She is part of the Academic Team specializing in science. She is also involved at the Waukomis Community Church. Rogue has a job after school in childcare.
Rogue has made some plans for her future. She wants to graduate from OU in 2030 with a pre-med degree and go to medical school at OU. She plans to accomplish this with an HPSP scholarship in the Army. She wants to be a field surgeon in the Army before going into cardiac research.
Rogue Pethick is an extremely mature young woman. She is confident, caring, respectful, and finds the good in every experience. She is on my very short list of young people to follow to see if their plans come true. I think they will!
