WOODWARD LADY BOOMERS

Coach: NATHAN JONES

2024-25 Record: 11-13

Nathan Jones steps into his first year as head coach of the Woodward girls basketball team. This year’s squad will return four girls from the starting line-up last year.

“We gained a ton of experience last year and we are looking to improve on what we learned last year,” said coach Jones.

Senior guard Lexi Mendall returns as the leading scorer, averaging 13 points per game last season.

“Lexi has been a huge part of Boomer basketball since she entered high school,” said coach Jones. “She will be a three-year starter. She is a multi-sport athlete and is very successful in all sports. In basketball, she has been a huge part of our offensive game plan. She can score in a variety of ways and she is also an excellent defender. With her work ethic and skills, I am looking forward to this season and seeing how far she can go!”

Kaleigh Mills, junior forward, returns after averaging seven rebounds per game last year. Mills is another player the team will look to for leadership.

“Kaleigh is a great multi-sport athlete, but more importantly, she is a better young lady,” said coach Jones. “She has one of the best work ethics I have seen in my years of coaching. She is a leader by example. She gives a 100 percent in athletics, academics, and all other activities that she is involved with!”

Other returning players who will be impactful this year are juniors Taylor Floyd, Bailey Nelson, and Kaitlyn Culp. One underclassman to watch will be sophomore Ella Howard.

“Ella has a ton of potential for our team,” said coach Jones. “She can handle the ball extremely well and she sees the floor very well. She also is one of the better shooters we have on our team – she just needs to have confidence. She is a hard worker and will be a big part of the team going forward.”
