Kylie Adair, a senior at Alva High School, is the definition of a well-rounded student-athlete. Involved in cross country during the fall season, basketball in the winter, and track during the spring, Adair’s passion for competition is matched only by her love for her team and community.
During cross country, Adair is an integral part of the team. While on the basketball court, Adair serves as the point guard, a role that highlights both her leadership and determination. During track season, she runs the 400-meter dash, as well as the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relays. Her athletic range is impressive, but Adair credits her success to the people around her.
Adair attributes her success in cross country to her teammates. Not just her cross country teammates, but all teammates Adair competes with. She shares how her teammates always support each other–holding each other accountable, always expecting the best from one another.
Adair’s strong support system doesn’t stop at her teammates. Her biggest role models are her parents and her Aunt Kelli.
“They’re my biggest fans, supporters, and encouragers,” she said. “My competitiveness definitely comes from them.”
Throughout her time at Alva High School, Adair has also felt the impact of her teachers.
“I’ve had so many amazing teachers over the years. They’ve all done something different that has shaped me into who I am,” she shared. “I truly couldn’t have asked for a better group of teachers.”
Among the many high points in her athletic career, Adair fondly remembers her freshman year, with a cross country regional team win.
“Winning regionals as a team was such an emotional day,” she recalls. “I was able to medal at regionals individually to help us win! It was a super exciting day filled with lots of emotions!”
Adair is also active in student council and Key Club, demonstrating her dedication to her school and community beyond athletics. After graduation, she plans to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University and major in Biology, with a future goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.
For Adair, wearing the Alva jersey is about more than sports.
“Representing my school and community means everything to me,” she says. “Alva is truly a special place, and I love being able to wear the Alva name across my chest.”
