Enid’s Cashton “Cash” Mathis – Football Spotlight – Presented by Bay Insurance

Cashton “Cash” Mathis, a rising sophomore at Enid High School, is already making waves as a two-sport athlete in Oklahoma. Balancing both football and basketball, Mathis brings focus, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose to every game and practice.

Mathis plays tight end and defensive end on the football field and holds down the power forward position on the basketball court. One of his favorite athletic memories so far came during his freshman year, when he recorded his first varsity tackle in a rivalry game against Ponca City. “They’ve been our rivals for a long time. I love being part of that,” he shared.

While athletic achievement drives him, Cash’s biggest motivation is personal: “I want to give my parents their dream home one day.” He credits his father as his greatest role model, admiring his strength and daily commitment to supporting their family.

Academically, Mathis acknowledges the influence of Mrs. Garis, a teacher who helped him successfully navigate his freshman year.

Whether on the court or field, Mathis knows success takes consistent effort. “You have to wake up every day and work hard to get better,” he said. Off the field, he plays club basketball with Southern Ties and makes time for homework despite his demanding schedule. “You might only have an hour or two to get your schoolwork done after practice, so you have to stay locked in,” he added.

Cash enjoys competing in practice against teammate Zarion Sanders, who pushes him daily, and he makes a point to recognize underappreciated teammate Wyatt Newman, who has been a steady contributor since freshman year.

His pregame ritual includes eating peanuts and listening to Drake to get focused. Off the field, he follows comedian Druski on social media for some lighthearted motivation. His favorite NFL player is retired defensive powerhouse Aaron Donald, and he dreams of playing for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Proud to represent the Enid Plainsmen, Cashton Mathis continues to grow as a student-athlete. He’s just getting started.
