Athletes invest a lot of time and effort so that they are at the top of their game when they compete. But along with their play comes the responsibility to represent the name on the front of your uniform. Trace Duncan says he does not take representing his school lightly.
“I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else other than the school I play for right now,” he stated. “Because I wouldn’t wanna play with anyone else other than teammates I have right now.”
Duncan is a multi-sport athlete at Hooker High School. The senior plays basketball, football, baseball, and golf. He is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Throughout his career, Trace has worked hard and he has been fortunate enough to see that work payoff.
“It has taken hard work in the weight room, during practices, and working during the summers to get better,” he said. “Making the state championship twice in football has been the highlight of my career, even though we weren’t able to get done. I’m still happy that we made it there because not everybody can get that opportunity.”
The teammates that he competes alongside are a solid group of guys and Duncan says they do a great job of making each other better.
“I always love going against Tatum Trimble in one-on-one’s in football,” Trace said. “He is one the best route runners I know and he is hard to guard. I would say one of the more under-appreciated guys is Slade Stalder. He is one of the hardest-working guys I know.”
Along with his work, it helps to have people that are influential in his life that helped shape him not only as an athlete, but also as a person.
“My biggest role model is Russell Westbrook,” he said. “I love the way he plays 110% every night and that’s what I want to be like. The teacher with the biggest impact on my life would be Mrs. Honey. She’s given me great advice in the classroom.”
