Woodward Boomers Basketball – Presented by Moyer Electric

Woodward head basketball coach, Kala Gaines, is looking forward to getting the season started and seeing what the team will be able to accomplish this season. “This year’s team should do well,” Gaines said. “We have an incoming freshman that I expect to see great things from. I will have several players back from last year who are just good players and work hard.

We have a great chance to do some good things this year if we can execute game plans. Really excited to see what happens.” One of those players back will be Carter Reid. A senior this year, Carter has been a good leader for the team since last year. He is a small guard who can push the ball up the floor well and has a good mid range jump shot. Cole Reid is a sophomore who is good at  handling the ball and attacking the basket. He is quick and runs the floor well. He can cause a lot of good things to happen when on the court.

Incoming freshman Kadon Gaines has a lot of natural talent and he will make a bigger impact as he continues to develop. He brings a lot of energy to the team. Connor Price does all the little things on the court. He will get rebounds, even though he is the shortest on the team, he gets a lot of defensive stops and tips causing the opponent to be uneasy. Jesse Treece is a great role player. He finds ways to help his team be better. He grabs lots of rebounds and gives the team second chance shots. He just plays hard and loves the game. He is reliable and works to make his team better and not looking for the spotlight. Two other members of the team to keep an eye on this season are Conner Sunderland and Gage Hutchens.
