VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Reyna: I am a freshman at Woodward High School. I wrestle and play soccer.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Reyna: Wrestling has taught me to work hard for what I want. In order to succeed I must push myself and my limits.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Reyna: Being a role model for the younger girls who were too scared to join wrestling. Giving them the courage to join is always a good feeling.
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Reyna: Last year during a home dual with Elk City, hearing everyone cheer, and support me made me feel seen.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Reyna: Aleah Chase. She showed me I could accomplish anything I wanted to. She’s been there for me on the tough practices, tough weight cuts, and the days I wanted to quit.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Reyna: My favorite teacher was Mrs White. She taught history and geography. She only taught me for one semester, but I love her way of teaching and I got really close to her in a short period of time and really made that class special.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Reyna: My mom inspires me the most. Every day she sacrifices so much for my brother and I. She works long, odd hours, but always makes sure that we get to practice on time and make it to every sporting event. Even if it means working extra hours to adjust for her time. I can always count on my mom being in the stands cheering me on and being there when the matches don’t go my way.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Reyna: If I were to go anywhere for vacation, I would go somewhere tropical like Hawaii or the Bahamas. Somewhere rural and peaceful and I would take my mom with me
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Reyna: I’d like to send out a big thank you to my club wrestling coach Alan Rickers. He has pushed me to be my absolute best, and taught me so much about wrestling. Alan is not only a great coach but also an incredible father figure for my brother and I.
