The Lady Boomers come into this season looking to build off of last season and make some noise this postseason. Head coach Lacy Moore likes what her team is bringing to the court this year. “We have all the pieces to be a salty competitive team,” Moore said. “Defense is going to be a big focus for us this season, that kind of defense that people talk about.” Looking to bounce back from a late season injury is Bryleigh Douglas Fischer. Before her injury, she led the team in scoring and rebounds and hopes to pick back up right where she left off. Lexi Mendell is a returning starter.
As a sophomore, she had a strong presence on the team. She is able to shoot the ball from the outside and slice her way to the rim. She should be a leader on the court for Woodward this season. Kaleigh Mills was a part time starter as a freshman last year. A hard worker whenever she is on the court, she will raise the level of intensity. A player that will look to increase her impact this season is Taylor Floyd. She had limited minutes as a freshman but she is expected to see growth this season.
She has put in a lot of extra time in the off season working on her skills and leadership. Also coming back from an injury is Makayla Stinnet. She had a hip injury that took her out of the entire season last year. She is a positive voice and consistent worker on the team. Michele Ibarra is a very hard worker, she never complains, and is the backbone to the team. She does a great job of using her voice in a positive manner during practice and game time.
