Medford High School sophomore Laken Lamle is a multisport athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball for the Medford High School Cardinals. In football, Laken plays the positions of tight end and defensive end. Many would consider Laken a sports veteran, having been involved with sports since the 5th grade.
Laken is proud to represent his school and community as a Medford Cardinal student athlete. Laken proclaimed, “It means a lot to me to play for all the people that support our teams.”
As far as what it has taken for Laken to become successful in sports, Laken stated, “It has taken hard work, dedication, and being a coachable player.”
In regards to what motivates him, Laken has a mantra of “To do the best I can, and to be the best teammate I can be.”
There is one particular teacher has stood out the most to Laken, thus far, during his academic career. Laken stated, “My favorite teacher is my mom, who teaches middle school English. Very few students have had the opportunity to have their mom also be their school teacher.”
A role model for Laken is a professional baseball player. Laken explained, “I took up toward Brendan Girton, who I grew up watching while I was at school at Shattuck. I continued watching in him play in college, continue to do so now that he is in Major League Baseball.”
Many memories are made in a high school athlete’s career. One particular event stands out to Laken. Laken recalled, “My most memorable moment was beating Welch to become District Champions for the first time since 2007, and helping win my dad his first District Championship.”
In addition to being a multi-sport athlete, Laken is involved with extracurricular activities at Medford High School. Laken explained, “I am the Vice President in the Medford Chapter of The FFA Organization.”
After graduating from high school, Laken plans on pursuing higher education, while continuing to play sports. Laken stated, “I want to play baseball at Northern Oklahoma College, in Tonkawa, and get a degree in an agricultural related major.”
