Emma Kate Ruska is an eighteen year old senior at Chisholm High School. She has made an impact on her high school by being involved with several activities and doing things the right way!
Kruska is involved as Vice-President of Student Council, National Honor Society and sports (cross-country, basketball and tennis). She talked with me about liking to be involved with students and planning events. During CHOP (Chisholm Helping Other People) Week under the leadership of Emma Kay, Chisholm raised over $8,000.00 in honor of Amy Barnes.
Kruska also is involved with reviving FCA at Chisholm. The school sponsor is
Math teacher and baseball coach Riley Thompson. Thompson graduated from Chisholm and had a great experience with FCA his senior year. He has a vision for making FCA special for the students. Emma Kate shares that vision and is one of the driving forces in this year’s huddle. The huddle had a great turnout for “See You at the Pole” and looks forward to the upcoming “Fields of Faith.”
We talked about the importance of teachers and Emma Kate talked about Roger Hula and Ryan Snider being such great examples and encouraging to her each year. She knows she can reach out to them anytime.
Emma Kate does not plan to pursue athletics in college talking more about academics and majoring in nutrition and food science at OSU. Then, she wants to go to medical school.
Emma Kate talked about her busy summer and all the new friends she made. She attended Advanced STUCCO Camp in Norman, went on a Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. after a winning essay contest sponsored by Harman Electric. A few vacation days with family in Crested Butte, CO were next before attending Cross Point, an F UMC Church Camp. Plus, she taught tennis when she wasn’t on the road.
I asked Emma Kate what advice she might give an eighth grader getting ready for high school. She thought a moment and replied, “Work hard, do the right things and it will all work out in the end.”
Emma Kate Kruska, senior leader, is making an impact at Chisholm High School.
FCA is celebrating 70 years of influence in 2024. FCA began in Oklahoma in 1954. There are over 18,500 Huddles in the United States and FCA helped lead over 44,640 to faith decisions for God last year.
