OFFENSE

The Terriers are coming off the 2023 campaign that saw them make it into the Class A playoffs, even with a lot of underclassmen on the field. But as they enter the new season, head coach Bob Ward is looking for growth from his team and is ready to see what they can do. “We were extremely young last year,” he said. “We were very proud of the way that our kids played. Our next step is to be more consistent and improve our mental preparation for each opponent.” Quarterback Tye Littlebird (5-9, 145, Jr.) will lead the offense. He threw for 1,958 yards and rushed for 471 yards. He also totaled 27 total touchdowns. He will have a trio of wide receivers that he will work to get the ball to. Landon Wald (6-0, 150, Jr.) had 702 receiving yards and five scores last season, while Warren Cometsevah (6-0, 185, Jr.) had 454 total yards and two touchdowns. Gage Wright (6-0, 165, Sr.) had 29 receptions for 269 yards and four touchdowns last year. These three receivers will look to continue to make big contributions to the offense. Anchoring the offensive line are Stinson Ward (6-0, 250, Sr.), L.J. Torres (6-0, 260, Sr.), and Kadin Wilcoxsin (6-0, 280, Sr.), all who are two year starters at the position.

DEFENSE

The Terrier defense will look to be aggressive and bring pressure on the opponents. Ward says that his team will need to cut down on the simple problems this season. “A big key for us is reducing our mental and physical mistakes,” he said. “Most of our defense returns this year so hopefully our experience will pay off.” Hunter Freeburg (6-0, 215, Sr.) and Ward will work to disrupt the plans of their opponents this season. Last year, Freeburg ended with 40 tackles, while Ward had 29. Cometsevah is going to be a force at linebacker again this season after registering 46 tackles as a sophomore. Patrolling the secondary and ready to shut down the opponents’ big plays will be Collier Leutkemeyer (5-8, 145, Jr.) and Wold. They combined for 61 tackles, five pass break ups, and an interception. Assistant coaches for the Terriers this season are Matt Hart, Elijah Zoschke, Chaipen Nease, and Derek Dolan.
