Watonga’s Ayden Perez – Football Spotlight – Presented by First State Bank of Watonga

Ayden Perez – Watonga High School Football, Wrestling, and Track

Ayden Perez is a multisport athlete for the Watonga High School Eagles. Ayden is currently a junior at Watonga High School and plays football, and also competes in wrestling and track. For football, Ayden plays the position of tailback end. Ayden can be classified as a sports veteran. Ayden stated, “I have been playing football since 6th grade. I have been a wrestler since I was only 5 years old, and I have participated in track since 8th grade.”

Asked what it means to represent his school and his community, Ayden explained, “It makes me proud to represent my community, every time I compete.” 

Teammates make all the difference for a team’s success. Ayden did not hesitate to share the teammates he enjoys working with in practice. “For football, two teammates, Chris and Ivan are my favorite to practice with, because they make practice really fun.” 

In regards to what motivates him to be the best he can be, Ayden proclaimed, “My family motivates me to be at my best. It has taken a lot of hard work and determination to become successful in sports.”

Every student athlete has a memory that stands out of the sporting career. For Ayden, this moment occurred in football. Ayden explained, “My favorite memory of my sporting career so far was my first touchdown, when I had a kickoffreturn.”

Most students have a teacher that stood out to them the most during their academic career. Ayden stated, “Grant Williams was my favorite, because he would always push me to become better, which I appreciate.”

Ayden looks toward family for a person that has been an influence and role model. Ayden stated, “My dad is my biggest role model because of his incredible work ethic.”

After graduating from high school, Ayden wants to pursue higher education and attend college.
