MEDFORD CARDINALS
Coach: BLAKE LAMLE
3-7
OFFENSE
Medford returns to the field with a seasoned and determined offense, featuring standout offensive lineman Chase Abele (6-1, 180, Sr.). “We return seven starters on offense and eight on defense,” head coach Blake Lamle said. The Cardinals will utilize a shotgun, no-huddle spread offense. “We will have a nice mix of veteran O-line mixed in with all returning skill players,” Lamle stated. The offense will be aided by Ethan Gonzales (6-0, 180, Jr.), who will have key players in wide receivers Jack Blubaugh (6-1, 160, Sr.) and Kingston Edwards (5-9, 155, Jr.). Running backs Lyam Killian (5-8, 185, Sr.) and Trent Lohmann (5-10, 175, So.) will be essential to the ground game. The offensive line is fortified by returning starters Chase Abele, Thad Malchoff (6-4, 215, Sr.), and Bryer Curl (5-8, 240, Sr.). “We also return our top offensive weapon Ethan Gonzales; he rushed for over 1200 yards as a freshman but missed all of last year with a knee injury,” added Lamle. With a blend of experienced linemen and skill players, the Cardinals are poised for a productive offensive season.
DEFENSE
The Cardinals’ defense will operate from a 3-2 base under the guidance of their defensive coaching staff. “We will have a lot of depth returning with all 8 starters and 3-4 contributors that can fill different spots,” Lamle remarked. The defensive line features Thad Malchoff and Austin Kalblinger (6-3, 215, Sr.), providing strength on the edges. In the secondary, Gunner Ebert (5-10, 165, Jr.) and Teague Schuermann (5-7, 155, So.) will offer reliable coverage. The linebacker corps is bolstered by returning starters Lyam Killian (5-8, 185, Sr.) and Trent Lohmann (5-10, 175, So.), who bring intensity and physicality to the defense. With 8 returning starters, the Medford defense should be a strong unit this season.
