Lois Alcorn – Chisholm High School Softball

Lois Alcorn is an integral softball player for the Chisholm High School Longhorns. Currently a sophomore at Chisholm High School, she plays fast pitch and slow pitch softball, as well as races outlaw karts. Besides playing softball for Chisholm high school, she also plays for a traveling team, Oklahoma Athletics-Bezdicek. While playing softball forChisholm, she primarily plays catcher and short stop. On her travel softball team, she plays first/utility. Many would consider Lois a veteran of the sport of softball, as she has been playing softball since I was 4 years old, and also has been racing for 6 years.
Asked what motivates her, Lois stated, “Seeing my hard work pay off. The more I improve the more I want to keep working. Pushing myself to reach goals gives me confidence and keeps me excited every time I step on the field.”
As far as her biggest role models and influences, Lois, looks toward family. Lois stated, “My parents, Nick and Shasta Alcorn, are my biggest role models/influences because they have always been there for me every step of the way. They push me to work hard, help me succeed and always support my dreams.”
In regards to what has made Lois successful in sports, Lois proclaimed, “Hard work and dedication has made me successful. Additionally, showing up and pushing myself every day, even when I do not feel like it.”
Every high school student athlete has a highlight of their sporting career. For Lois, this moment was receiving an award. Lois explained, “The highlight moment of my career thus far was being awarded Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman in high school. I was nominated by my coach for this opportunity. Also, I am so proud to be able to say I earned a starting position as a freshman. I hope to be a positive role model for younger girls who want to play sports.”
In addition to playing softball and racing outlaw karts, Lois is a member of The National FFA Organization, and is also a member of The National Honor Society.
After graduating from high school, Lois plans on pursuing higher education. Lois stated, “After graduating high school, I plan on going to college and hopefully getting the opportunity to continue playing softball in college.”
